How We Want To Make Relationships With Cincinnati Schools:
Our ultimate goal for this upcoming school year is to create at least one Dance Marathon at the high school level. Outside of getting a high school DM up and running we want to help educate the local high schools on the good that Cincinnati Children's Hospital does for the community as well as provide them with ways to help support their efforts. We'd also love to get students educated about the potentially involved with UC's BearcatTHON.
The Impact of These Relationships:
Getting the high schools in the Cincy area involved with Dance Marathon with help students feel more connected to their community through their support of Cincinnati Children's Hospital. High school Dance Marathons have already proven to be successful in other areas and we know that they would thrive here in Cincinnati. Students having the opportunity to participate in Dance Marathon throughout high school will also make them more interested and willing to participate in DM at the collegiate level.
Words from our former High School Relations/Recruitment Chairs:
"I grew up in central Indiana surrounded by high school dance marathons that surpassed those of some colleges. Dance Marathon as a whole is an incredible organization to become a part of and it’s truly life-changing to see the difference you can make for the future of kids' health at the high school level.
DM was my favorite event all four years of high school and my involvement led to me being on the Exec board here at UC’s BearcatTHON. Almost all of my friends who participated in DM during high school are now a part of college DM’s all over the country. It’s vital for us to expand Dance Marathon into the Cincinnati area schools to help raise awareness of what the event actually is, continue to change the future of kids' health, and so that when students go off to college they’ll be more eager to get involved."
Anders Graham
"Growing up right here in Cincinnati, I was constantly being reminded how fortunate I am to live in an area with so many amazing hospitals such as Cincinnati Children’s. I think it is important to start dance marathons at the high schools here to show our support for not only the hospitals in our backyard but the amazing kids who get treatment there. Through building relationships with the high schools around Cincinnati, we can raise so much more awareness to change future kids' health. Having high school students attend BearcatTHON shows them how impactful Dance Marathon is but also how we are passionate students like them all working for one cause."
