The University of Calgary Cheer Team is a group of university students who support their school, community and the sport of cheerleading in Calgary. Their first season started in January of 2012 where the team performed at the Dino Men's Basketball Games. The team continues to perform at football and basketball games and various events around the city, as well as competing at competitions across Canada.
The club exists to provide a cheerleading group on the University of Calgary (UofC) campus. The purpose of the club is to bring people with interests in cheer, dance, gymnastics and athletics together. The club provides an excellent way to get involved on campus and promote teamwork, physical fitness, positive attitude and collegiality. As well as getting students involved, the club aims to promote school pride and school spirit, as well as promoting the sport of cheerleading in Calgary.
Our coaching staff is made up primarily of volunteers who are former cheerleaders and/or gymnasts. These amazing people are incredibly passionate about the sport and ensuring that every athlete has a safe and fun learning environment. They are IASF/ICU Level 6/7 certified and/or NCCP certified, as well as certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, Concussion Management, U of C MOOC Concussion: Prevention, Detection, and Management, and Safe Sport.
