PRESIDENT'S REPORT 2024
The 2024 season was the first year at the all-purpose indoor courts at Nga Puna Wai, and the competition was split between two different locations, with games being played on a weeknight for some. Overall, the competition was tight and gave us some great netball.
This season our team’s stayed at the 23 mark, and honestly we are thankful for this. Of the 23 teams, we had 7 self entered teams in the Open Grade competition. This still does make UC the largest senior netball club in the CNC competition.
This season, we have seen great success and improvements from our teams.
One to note was our R team in the open grade. Overall, they had a strong season winning the majority of their games convincingly and making an impact in the competition. They have a dedicated coach who put a lot of time and effort into the team to ensure that they played at 100% each week.
Our K and N teams had some good results week after week, and continued to build in their respective teams throughout the season.
At the start of the season our G team were challenged for a spot in the Challenge 2 grade. This was a close game throughout, and one that could have gone either way. We look forward to challenging in this game next year.
We also had seven of our open grade teams make their semi-finals, with three of them winning these and playing in their grades’ finals. Congratulations to the J team who won their final, and to the I and R teams who put everything on the line. We are so proud of the strides you made this season.
We had our A team play in their semi final in the Premier 2 grade against a strong St Margaret’s side. Despite the result, they secured their place in the Premier 2 competition for 2025. Our B through to F teams also secured their places in their respective grades for the 2025 season.
Although some of our teams have done well and others may feel a little disappointed, it’s important to remember the good times, the making of new friends, and the new skills you learned this year. The best thing about our sport is that there is always room for improvement, we can all work on doing something just a little bit better, when we all do that, our teams will benefit greatly.
A club this size relies on our volunteers, especially our coaches. Our club could not function without you, you have given up your time and imparted your knowledge to others. We may not always get it right and can find it a challenging task, however, the positive of coaching is watching players develop and discover skills and talents throughout the season. I want to thank the many coaches of UC Netball’s family who keep the club moving forward and giving it their heart and dedication.
Netball is a hard game to play when there are no officials to keep it moving and fair. We are lucky to have had some wonderful umpires within our club, who support each other and have guided each other throughout the season. Thank you for your time and effort to support teams.
This year our committee was a group of get it done ladies. Without your committee, UC Netball would not be smooth sailing. Your committee is made up of 12 busy ladies, they coach, umpire, manage, and half of them play senior netball.
I want to express my gratitude to our incredible committee; you're all amazing to work alongside. You know who you are, so thank you for everything that you have done this year. I want to extend a massive thank you for the countless hours of service, the passion, and the love you've poured into UC Netball this season. Without the dedication and determination of this group, UC Netball would not be the incredible community it is today. We are profoundly grateful for everything you do.
I want to extend an enormous thank you to each and every one of our members this season. Your unwavering dedication, commitment, and passion has been truly remarkable. You've shown up week after week, poured your hearts into the game, and demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship.
The way you've represented UC Netball has been nothing short of outstanding, upholding our name and reputation with pride. Your efforts have not only made our club stronger but have also left a lasting positive impact on everyone you've encountered. Thank you for being the heart and soul of UC Netball this season.
For those of you moving on, whether that be to a new club next season or your university studies have come to an end, we wish you well towards your future endeavours. To those returning next season, we look forward to seeing you in February to do it all over again.
Happy summer break UC Netball, all the best, and stay safe!
