My name is Raymond Huang and I am an upcoming Senior at Franklin High School. This is my third year at Upward Bound as well as my 3rd year of taking Web Design (Career Exploration).
On this website I will share my interests, my history with computing, my past mentor and possible future mentor(s) as well as my numerous goals in the next year/life.
Hopefully by the end of this, you will get an idea of who I am!
I really enjoy reading! It became a hobby of mine back in elementary school. I was born in America, but my family immediately moved back to China and I didn't return to the U.S. until I was 5 or 6. As such my English was poor and the way it improved was through reading and writing assignments. The first book I'd read was a Magic Tree House book and since then I've read many other series, Harry Potter being one of my favorites among them.
Math wasn't something I originally enjoyed doing. I hated doing it during middle school due to the complexity. But during high school I got a better understanding of Algebra thanks to Will Pirrie (or as I like to call him, math Jesus), the former math instructor of Upward Bound. I still often struggle at math (e.g. Calculus this summer) but now it feels more like a puzzle and it is the sense of completion and understanding that make me enjoy doing it.
I developed an interest in gaming early on. It was a past time, something to do while I was not focused on school. At first it was just flash games and other online games. Then I discovered STEAM in middle school as well as more mainstream games. Video games are fun, exciting and sometimes helpful towards my learning (like those games back in Elementary), so it quickly became one of my hobbies.
Recently I have also started posting videos of random gaming such as M.U.G.E.N. on YouTube.
