With advancement in technology, many software applications, including Office 365, have been introduced into classrooms and utilized by administrators, teachers, and students. However, even a seemingly innocent tool can have a serious impact on the environment. This audit analyzes the environmental costs of using digital tools, such as Office 365, daily by Grade 5-7 students, focusing on the cloud, its energy consumption, and resulting carbon footprint. Although it is quite challenging to identify research on the educational aspect of this topic, we’ll draw from various readings to help deliberate this topic.
