Fall 2021: IRL

We are happy to announce that this fall we are meeting in person again after nearly a year and a half online! We started off the semester with a welcome back picnic, and we are now holding meetings weekly in the LGBTQ Resource Center on campus. If you have any questions or would like to join us, feel free to contact us at uaostem@gmail.com

Spring 2020 Recap

While our spring semester here at the University of Arizona was certainly unusual, our chapter still had a productive and meaningful time. During January, February, and March, our chapter held a variety of events, from learning about networking from our friends at Raytheon, to hearing about how to pursue research opportunities from fellow LGBTQ+ scientists, to having game and movie nights. Following the establishment of social distancing guidelines, our club decided to continue to meet in an online format. We held alternating study and social nights every week, and due to the continued sense of community these online meetings have given our members, we have chosen to continue our online meetings into the summer so that we can all continue to connect.

COVID-19 Update

Keeping in line with the University’s suspension of in-person instruction and move to online classes, all on-campus club meetings are postponed until further notice. If clubs have business to address, it should be done through Zoom or other online means.

In accordance with this policy, all official oSTEM meetings are cancelled until further notice. We will let you know as soon as we do when/if this policy is lifted, and we will let you know if there are any updates from oSTEM Inc. and us officers. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at uaostem@gmail.com. Our social media is also linked below, and we will be posting updates there as well. All current information about CoVID-19 at UArizona can be found here: https://www.arizona.edu/coronavirus-covid-19-information

As a final note, please take care of yourselves and those around you during this time. Wash your hands, stay home if you feel sick, and don't hoard too much toilet paper (seriously though, other people need toilet paper, too). Good luck with your transition to online classes, and hopefully we'll be seeing you all soon!

Fall 2019 Recap

We had an exciting and productive fall semester here at oSTEM at the University of Arizona! We started off the year with two socials, a calendar decorating party and our annual egg drop competition. We had a variety of professional events, from a study skills workshop to a graduate school panel. We also hosted several guests, including a Raytheon engineer who taught us some Excel skills and SAAF, who told us about their organization. And of course, we sent members to the annual oSTEM Conference. This year, we sent six members to the conference in Detroit, MI. Thank you to all of our members who came this semester, and to everyone who has supported our organization. See you in the spring!
