1st UAM-UJI Workshop on the Economics of Health and Human Capital

The 1st UAM-UJI Workshop on the Economics of Health and Human Capital will take place in Madrid on the 21st of June 2024 in Madrid.

This is a new initiative jointly organised by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and Universitat Jaume I (UJI). 

The primary objectives of this workshop are the discussion and dissemination of state-of-the-art econometric, data science and causal inference methods applied to substantive issues in the broad fields of the economics of health and human capital. 


Format 

This is a 1-day workshop consisting of 8 papers. Each accepted paper will be allocated 40 minutes, including: a presentation by the author (20 minutes); a response from a nominated discussant (10 minutes); and an open discussion with the audience (10 minutes). The number of participants will be limited to around 20.

 

Keynote speaker

This workshop will include a keynote speech delivered by Davide Dragone (University of Bologna, Italy).


Abstract submission 

We welcome submissions covering a wide range of topics related to health and human capital, including but not limited to the interactions between health, education and the labour market. Submission from early career researchers are particularly encouraged. 


Papers will be selected on the basis of extended abstracts (max 500 words). Each abstract will need to include three main sections: background and motivation, methods, and main results. The deadline for submission of the extended abstract is the 15th of March 2024 (abstracts submitted after the 15th of March 2024 will not be considered).

Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the scientific committee and acceptance will be confirmed by the 15th of April 2024. 


Full drafts of accepted papers will need to be submitted by the 7th of June 2024 to MadridWorkshop23@gmail.com.

When and where

The workshop will take place on the 21st of June 2024 at La Corrala, in the historical central area of El Rastro in Madrid. 


Registration

There are no registration fees for participants and lunch and coffee will be provided. Participants will be responsible for their own transport and accommodation arrangements. Please note that the number of participants will be limited to around 20 and that participants will be expected to play a role as either author or discussant.
