How to qualify
How to qualify
The non-body checking (BB/A) categorization is one of the fastest growing divisions in minor hockey across Ontario. In recognition of this evolution, in 2026 the OHF is debuting an OHF Championships for this categorization. Starting this Fall, over 1,300 U18 BB/A players and 70 teams begin their journey for their league title and a chance to participate in the OHF Championships.
The OHF Championships is comprised of five teams and unites Championship Team representatives from across Ontario alongside the host team in a 3-day tournament to showcase elite-level competition and celebrate community pride and engagement. For the participants, it provides a platform to perform at the highest level against top-tier competition and the opportunity to be crowned as OHF Champion.
Joining the host team, will be league champion representatives from the following:
● Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (ALLIANCE)
● Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL)*
● Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA)
*GTHL representative: Best-of-three series between GTHL champion and Mississauga Hockey League champion to qualify for OHF Championship.
The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) does not participate in non-body checking (BB/A) at U18. Therefore, the 5th team will be determined as outlined in the OHF Championships 2026 Bid Guidelines.
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
The Championships will follow a tournament style format, with each team playing each other in a single round robin series.
At the conclusion of the round robin series, the team finishing fifth will not advance to the playoff round.
Two semi-final games shall be played with the second-place team playing the third-place team and the first-place team playing the fourth-place team.
The winning teams in the semi-final games shall compete in the Championship Game.
