Overview
TutorD is a communication and educational software that focuses on revolutionizing how scholars learn and succeed throughout their time in the K-12 school system. TutorD is a hands-on educational platform, that teaches urban youth in-demand skills via online and in-person workshops and training courses. TutorD is a transformative educational space with various tools/resources for solving, tracking progress, and assisting those in the role of scholars. This software is designed for all parties in a scholar's life: parents, teachers, and anyone else who has scholar(s) needing help learning and tracking their educational progress.
Goal
Our goal was to create administration features and functions that help this user group to better assist educators and scholars, overview classroom success, and better connect with their scholars.

User Group
Admins who want to be able to manage and communicate with educators, as well as manage and view any billing/academic reports.
Competitive Audit
For our competitive audit, by observing both the similarities and differences between educational sites we would be able to meticulously apply the necessary functionalities to our prototype to give the prototype a more complete feel with all key focus areas being met.
Sketching
Given the wireframes provided to us, we began sketching out a user flow for an admin user based on those wireframes and designed the onboarding process for an admin to go through.
Information Architecture
Created and designed our official information architecture whilst designing each wireframe to understand the flow for the admin through each interaction available to them. The basic admin user flow also lives within the information architecture.
Wire Frames
Based on the basic wireframes provided to us by our client, we went straight to mid-high fidelity wireframes. We digitized our sketches for the onboarding process along with editing the existing admin dashboard wireframe. Furthermore, we dived deeper and created additional screens and flows for an admin to complete daily needed tasks.
Stretch Goals
In addition to the key deliverables that our client presented us, we created a variety of additional screens that we deemed to be helpful for an admin user through our usability testing synthesis.
Usability Testing
We conducted 3 Usability Tests. We had 2 rounds of tests where 2 participants were tested in the early stages of the prototype, and the last participant was tested on our mid-high fidelity prototype. The majority of our usability test participants were individuals who had some form of background in education and administration. One of our participants was the CEO of a company that coaches students financially and another participant was 5th grade language arts teacher. This was very helpful because it broadened our view and allowed us to see the quality of the interface for our participants who come from multitudes of different backgrounds from teaching to administering.
Created interactive flows for an admin to complete their onboarding process, utilize the dashboard for key information, task flows for their daily duties, and navigation flows to alternate key screens. In addition, we created various stretch goal screens that were identified through usability testing. Some things include screens to view important student data along with teacher data. On top of the key deliverables which were the dashboard, staff management, and reports page, participants stated that statistics were very important for an admin to view and have access to.
Challenges
Next Steps
Different design styles within the team and learning from each other
Set Design System where pages lived and how to get there
Finding Administrators for usability testing to gain more feedback
Updating the navigation to stay consistent with changed new pages
Expanding on the Unit Statistics to collect and display more data
Creating a dashboard layout designed for scholars, educators, and parents
Developing the full experience for additional admin functions
Further usability testing with other administrators
