This is a 3D Simulation on VCarve that accurately displays the path the CNC machine will follow when cutting out the box.
After the cut, I am left with two pentagonal parts that fit together to form the box.
This is what it looks like when both parts are put together. They neatly fit together to form a pentagon-shaped box.
This is a 3D Simulation on VCarve that accurately displays the path the CNC machine will follow when cutting out the box. Rather than a pentagon, I decided on a 14-point star.
Once you tell the machine which file you want to be cut out, it will do the rest on its own. However, sawdust must be cleaned out manually. One of the clamps needed to be adjusted to prevent the wood from moving out of place.
After the two pieces are cut, I was left with residual tabs on the wood that needed to be sanded off.
This is what the two pieces look like once they are sanded down and wood finisher is applied.
Once you tell the machine which file you want to be cut out, it will do the rest on its own. However, sawdust must be cleaned out manually. A different drill bit was needed in order to make the thin, precise cuts for the engraving.
After the machine had finished cutting, I was left with a neat engraving on the wood. Wood finisher was applied to the inside to give it more depth.
