The video tutorial I followed

After learning the basics of Blender I now wanted to do a personal project. The project I chose was to make a phone background as I have had the same one since 8th grade, around 6 or 7 years, as seen below.

The idea I came up with was a medieval style tower in a mountain landscape with a ocean in the background.
The first thing I created was the window as I wanted to convey a spiral stair case inside the tower, with the overall look inspired by Nerd Forge's LED light windows.
The next thing I created was the tower, I originally wanted to use individual bricks but manually placing 19k bricks would take to long. Meanwhile copy pasting didn't give the variation I wanted but also was to laggy to easily work with. Thus I opted to use textures.

Final Tower
The last part I had to do was the landscape, I originally tried to make it with my current skill set but ended up following this tutorial. The only variation between the final versions is the water as when doing the background I liked the downloaded water color over my created one so I used that instead.

Having now made all the individual parts I now needed to put it all together by placing the tower into the landscape. I originally envisioned the image to be at night however after putting it on my phone I found that I preferred a lighter color on the homepage so I also made a day version.
