Hiking / Biking / ATV:
Dry Hollow Ridge Trail head is located at the Log Cabin (property #2). There are numerous other hiking trails in nearby Susquehannock State Forest, Hammersly Wild Area, and Sproul State Forest. There are also numerous trails in the area for bike riding and ATVs.
State Parks:
Kettle Creek State Park is about a 15 minute drive from the main property. During the summer months, Kettle Creek State Park shares an environmental educator with Ole Bull State Park. The history and environment of the area are topics for educational programs for park visitors of all ages. Children’s programs, guided walks, and campfire programs are scheduled throughout the week.
Ole Bull State Park is also about a 15 minute drive away. The park office is open specific hours. The beach, overnight areas, and other areas are open specific seasons and hours.
Cherry Springs State Park is about a 30 minute drive. Night sky enthusiasts flock to the park for its dark skies which are famous for great views of the Milky Way, planets, and hard-to-see astronomical objects and phenomena.
The "PA Grand Canyon" is about an hour drive from our cabins. This gorge stretches for over 45 miles with depths of nearly 1500 feet. The dynamic topography of the PA Grand Canyon creates many scenic wonders, including steep canyon walls and waterfalls.
Hyner Run State Park has a children's play area, camping and hiking trails, and a public swimming pool.
Hyner View State Park features one of the nicest overlooks in DCNR’s Bureau of State Parks and is popular for hang gliding
Fishing:
The Cabins at the main property are located next to Kettle Creek, the “World famous fly fishing steam”. The creek is stocked with trout several times during the year.
Walk out and fish the back yard hole or take a short drive to numerous stock streams or native brook trout streams nearby. Lake fishing is available close by at Alvin Bush Dam at Kettle Creek State Park.
The creek behind the cabins has a rocky area suitable for children and families to safely get near the water, as well as an area where a small creek runoff meets Kettle Creek.
Many forms of wildlife visit our part of the stream, and if you're lucky you will see our resident bald eagle!
