Meet our Authors Below
Violence, art and grief are the most broad and hardest feelings and expressions to interpret. Our authors have written short stories that reveal what they see and have written on grief, violence, art and more. Welcome their stories and delve into their personal world.
During this unit, we had the choice between two books: Chain Gang All-Stars, and Biography of X, by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah and Catherine Lacey respectively. These books, while completely different, both novels tackle themes of violence, grief, and the purpose of art in the modern world. Similarly, every one of these themes is present in our own stories as well.
Violence, art, and grief intertwine with one another to create a realistic, compelling story. These themes reflect that often times, the creativity behind art is driven by violent, grieving, or negative forces; and that negative memories can create new, positive experiences.
