Reading Academy is designed for school aged students (Kindergarten- 5th grade). This reading tutoring program uses pedagogy from the science of reading. Research from Jan Richardson's Next Step Forward in Guided Reading is used to guide all levels of readers towards fluency and to build a passion for reading and lifelong learning. Building strong foundational skills ensures that scholars move from learning to read to reading to learn. You can check out the research and programming here. 

Kindergarten students should only do a 45 minute session 2-3 times per week; however, all other grade levels are encouraged to do the full hour session 2-3 times per week for at least 12 weeks. 

With parent approval, the tutor will work with the classroom teacher to share progress, goals. etc. This will also (of course) be shared with the family.

This approach to reading tutoring uses the science of reading and the foundations of reading to ensure fluency and success. The curriculum covers sight words, word study, phonemic awareness (sounds), phonics, writing, reading, decoding, and comprehension.
