Shift Leaders are experienced volunteers (have completed at least 3 shifts), who essentially take charge of the shifts. It's not much extra work than being a normal volunteer - it's just to ensure we have someone who knows what they're doing on every shift. You don't need to do any extra work outside of shifts!
Responsibilities of a Shift Leader include:
Directing the route taken on a shift;
Explaining shifts to first-time volunteers, and ensuring they know what to do;
Being responsible for the key for Exeter College's kitchen, including collecting it at the beginning of the shift and returning it at the end;
Purchasing any additional supplies at the beginning of the shift (to be later reimbursed by the society);
Having the final say in dealing with potential risks or hazards to health or safety.
