Some Highlights...
A Successful Community Painting Day!
On Saturday, April 30th, a stream of volunteer painters came in 2-hr shifts to help bring to life a mural created through a collaboration of TUGI: Boston, BU ESO, and the BU Arts Initiative. It was THE BEST DAY EVER and proved how art can be a powerful communication tool and conversation-starter! Learn more about the project here.
Stay Up-To-Date on our Quincy School Garden!
This January, we partnered with Josiah Quincy Elementary School and started our first garden project as the TUGI: Boston Chapter! As the weather warmed up we began re-building their rooftop garden, and have now already begun planting seeds. Stay tuned for more updates and progress pics!
During the final weeks of the Fall semester leading up to Winter break, TUGI: Boston hosted a Winter clothing and food drive for 3 community fridges in our area: Allston/Brighton, Jamaica Plain, and Fenway. We collected pantry staples and winter clothing as students cleared out of their apartments for break, and we raised money for grocery store runs prior to dropping off donations. With over $300 raised and multiple trunk-fulls of clothing and canned goods, we were able to contribute to the incredible, mutual-aid driven mission of the community fridges in our area.
We hope for this to be the first of many initiatives connected to Boston community fridges, and we are very grateful for having them in our community!
