Dr. Tufan Ghosh is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at VIT-AP University, Amaravati, whose research lies at the intersection of physical chemistry, materials science, and ultrafast spectroscopy. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from IIT Madras, where he developed a strong foundation in the photophysics of functional materials and the mechanisms of light–matter interaction.
He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research at two globally renowned institutions — The Hebrew University of Jerusalem under Prof. Sanford Ruhman, focusing on ultrafast excited-state dynamics, and at Ruhr University Bochum with Prof. Martina Havenith, exploring vibrational and terahertz spectroscopic studies of molecular and condensed-phase systems. These experiences refined his expertise in charge carrier dynamics, electron–phonon coupling, and energy relaxation processes in advanced optoelectronic materials.
At VIT-AP, Dr. Ghosh leads a dynamic research program investigating lead halide perovskites, semiconductor nanocrystals, and quantum dots. His group employs advanced time-resolved spectroscopic techniques to unravel fundamental processes governing charge transport and recombination, with the aim of improving the performance and stability of next-generation solar and light-emitting devices. His ongoing SERB-funded project, Charge Carrier Recombination Dynamics and Electron–Phonon Coupling in Two-Dimensional Lead Halide Perovskites, exemplifies his contribution to understanding structure–property relationships in emerging materials.
Through his research and mentorship, Dr. Ghosh continues to advance the frontiers of ultrafast dynamics and nanomaterial photophysics, blending scientific rigor with a vision for sustainable energy innovation.
