I was born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 7, 1995 to Nicole and Pierre Tremblay. My father was born in Montreal and raised in Ottawa and my mother was born and raised in the Franco-Saskatchewan settlement of Gravelbourg. We spoke french at home and I was raised to be a proud Franco-Albertan, like my Grandfather. Growing up I played piano and hockey/lacrosse and had an appreciation for music, literature, and art. As my lacrosse career came to an end, art and nature have taken over as my most precious soul-filling hobbies.
Before coming to Bishop's I worked in the Canadian Film Industry for 6 years and played professional lacrosse in B.C. I came to realise this was not fulfilling any sense of meaning in my life so I changed my career and life paths.
Lacrosse is still a major part of my life, as I am a captain of the Gaiters Lacrosse team, but has now become a hobby rather than a driving force. Instead, I like to spend my time with anything that takes me into the outdoors: hiking, skiing, camping, canoeing, rock climbing, bird watching, mushroom foraging, or lake and land sampling and study.
I do most of these things with my wonderful partner, Emma and our tight-knit group of friends. My family also goes on annual backcountry camping trips and were the ones that fostered this passion in me. My younger sister is the true family mountaineer!
With my education degree my goals are to influence positive change to the foundations of the public system in Alberta. Within these goals is a "side-mission" of opening a forest school in Alberta. When I have completed my Bachelor of Education I will pursue a Master's of Public Policy.
Though I have touched on some of these in the sections above, there are certain aspects of my life that most people would not assume and few know.
First is the extent to which I was engaged in my piano. Starting at age 5 I was a committed and high level pianist. I competed in multiple national and provincial competitions, winning awards at every level. Unfortunately, my rival was Jan Lisiecki, a supremely talented musician who has gone on to become a renown concert pianist, so most of those awards were 2nd place or lower. By the age of 13 I had graduated the Royal Conservatory of Music in Piano and concentrated on my sports. In 2018, at 23 years old, I bought myself a piano and took it back up.
Another little known fact is my extensive spiritual and philosophical study in my free time. I have had a propensity for existential thinking since I had the capacity for creative thought. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this innate questioning became my main area of concentration. From Seneca to Simone Weil, I devoured anything that questioned the nature of consciousness and human nature. Living alone in an apartment in Sherbrooke, I spend much of (dwindling) free time in pursuit of deeper understanding of reality. I am therefore highly questioning and critical in most things I consider. Most of these pondering I keep to myself unless in the company of my close social circle, or prompted by critical analysis questions (such as in my University Courses).
I do not find myself online often but when I do, it is usually for professional or entertainment purposes.
My only social media account is LinkedIn where I network with my friends, family, and connections in the education sphere.
As I enjoy live music, I will sometimes visit Live Nation to check for shows in my area. Last year I was able to see my favourite band, Parquet Courts rock the Corona Theatre in Montreal!
