The National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) is Trinidad and Tobago’s plan for conserving and sustainably using our biodiversity. It outlines national goals, targets, and actions to protect nature while supporting the well-being of our people and economy. The previous NBSAP can be found in the Resources Page of this website.
The NBSAP is being updated to:
Reflect current national priorities and realities
Align with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) adopted in 2022
Ensure Trinidad and Tobago meets its international commitments under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
Better address emerging challenges such as climate change, invasive species, and sustainable use of natural resources
The revision is being led by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development (MPEAD), through its Environmental Policy and Planning Division (EPPD), with with advisory support from the Joint Venture of Advisors Next Door and The Cropper Foundation.
Several intervention points will be used during this revision process, including Focus Groups, Online Surveys, Validation Sessions, Interviews, Online Feedback Forms, and other mechanisms such as the project email: ttnbsap2025@gmail.com. More information on events is provided in detail on the Events page of this website.

The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) is a global plan agreed on by 196 countries to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030. It includes 4 goals and 23 targets, and each country, including Trinidad and Tobago, is expected to align its national biodiversity strategies with this global framework.
Yes. Once finalized and approved, the updated NBSAP will be published and made publicly available on government websites and partner platforms.
