Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School has participated in the Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps since September, 2004. Our school unit belongs to the Kowloon Region (K1). At the beginning, our training programmes were organised by one of the school teacher and two instructors. 

After more than six years of operation, we were allowed by Headquarters to establish the "Training Ship" in 2011 since our unit had become increasingly mature. Our inauguration ceremony was held on 16th April, 2011 and the unit’s name is “ SOMERSET”, which is inspirited by the Training Ship ( the Chinese name remains as "普照分隊").

Nowadays, our training programmes are organised by school teachers and volunteer leaders.

Moreover, Bishop Hall Jubilee School has participated in the Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps since September, 2025. This school unit is affiliated with our training ship.
