In the video, “Why Introspection Matters,” you listened to the story of Androcles and the lion. Basically, the point of the story was to help us understand that our own actions are sometimes negatively influenced by hidden pain that we my not know how to acknowledge or choose to ignore.
For this reflection, we want you to reflect on a particular type of pain—the pain that writing causes you. Specifically, consider these questions:
• How aspect of writing causes you pain?
• How is that pain reflected in whether you do or don’t choose to write?
• How is ignoring that pain impacting your ability to become a better writer?
• What other steps will you take to remove that pain for your writing life?
• What do you think your future as a writer will look like without that pain?
Because this is our last reflection, we are going to take a more creative approach. You can write your reflection in whatever form feels most revealing to you:
• A poem
• Song lyrics
• A picture
• Free writing
• Etc.
