Pre-departure information

All students will need a visa in order to study abroad in China. The type of visa that you obtain will determine how many times that you are allowed to enter China.

If applying for your visa without using a visa service,  your application must be submitted in person. It cannot be done through mail.  Visit the Chinese consular website for more information.

If you choose to use a visa service for a fee, you can mail your documents to them.

Please note that resident permit/visa requirements can change at any moment and our offices will not be informed. It is the student’s responsibility to check the embassy website for updated procedures and required documentation.

If you have any questions, your best resource will be your host university, the visa service, or the consulate. Our office is happy to help as much as we can, but are not experts in immigration.

NOTE: Visa application rules change frequently and the university cannot control visa acceptance. You are responsible for applying for and providing the proper documentation to the consulate or embassy.
