Multifunctional Materials Manufacturing Laboratory
Multifunctional Materials Manufacturing Laboratory
The Multifunctional Materials & Manufacturing (3M) Lab, led by Professor Jung-Ting Tsai at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech), is a premier research hub specializing in the convergence of advanced additive manufacturing, thermal characterization, and material informatics. Our mission is to engineer the next generation of high-performance materials by bridging fundamental materials science with industrial-scale production. By integrating high-fidelity characterization with data-driven modeling, we provide innovative solutions for complex manufacturing challenges and ensure the mission-critical reliability of advanced material systems.
Core Research Pillars
Advanced Powder Science: Specializing in photocurable slurry engineering for Digital Light Processing (DLP) to optimize material processability and structural precision.
Microstructure & Interface Science: Leveraging advanced imaging, Synchrotron X-ray CT and TEM to visualize phase transformations and ensure layer-by-layer quality.
Thermal Characterization & Performance Reliability: Providing industry-leading metrology through high-precision analysis of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, heat capacity, and material density across solid, liquid, and powder forms to accelerate material qualification and ensure mission-critical reliability.
Data-Driven Engineering: Integrating Machine Learning, FEA, and Digital Twins to predict manufacturing outcomes and accelerate material development.
