Initiating a Group

"Existing Groups" or "Register Interest."

Things you can do to initiate a group

From those who have started groups we have learned sharing is guarded when people know each other well—probably because of the pressures to conform; looking good, conforming to shared belief systems, or avoiding truths too intimate to share.

• First check to see if there is an existing group in your area. If not...

• Meet with one or a few you think would be interested in starting a T-S group.

• Decide if you want the group to be open or closed to others.

• Pin up posters in places you think appropriate.

• Use facebook, twitter, etc. to solicit interested people.

• Announce a preliminary meeting at a public location.

• Have hard copies of the "Working Guide" available.

• Be clear this is not a "singles coupling" group.

• If the group's issue is specific, be clear about what it is.
