I have my laptop. Not for navigation. I thought Microsoft stopped supporting Streets and Trips. Using my phone for a hot spot, I can email, surf and watch videos and movoes on my laptop. Mine has a 15 inch screen. I have seen trucks with laptops mounted up front. However, they would be off to the side. Hope this helps a bit.

I brought mine with for the first six months, only used it a handful of times. I picked up a tablet about four months ago for if I want to watch movies, as it's generally more trouble than it's worth to set the laptop up, keep it plugged in and charged, and stored when the truck isn't moving. I'm going to be leaving it home when I leave town this time. If you pay for unlimited data with the big carriers it's more than sufficed for my media needs, coupled with an MP3 player and downloaded e-books if I'm ever stopped for the night.

It's a 17" screen laptop though, so it's not like it takes up much room, even in it's case, but it is one less thing to be in your way and worry about if you go for a tablet which is smaller and easier to move and charge.
