Daniel Berney, Professor of Dance and AFT representative for the Arts, Media and Entertainment Division at El Camino College - "I have been an AFT Faculty representative for the Arts, Media and Entertainment (formerly Fine Arts) division at El Camino College for nearly 25 years. During my tenure I have worked under 2 AFT Executive directors and more recently a faculty union under the guidance of Kelsey Iino and currently John Baranski. These have all been dedicated leaders who have guided us through incredibly tumultuous periods. Our most recent contractual gains are a credit to their leadership and as importantly the deeply rooted negotiating experience and contract knowledge of Troy Moore. Vote for him ....... I most definitely will!"
Laila Dellapasqua, ESL Faculty & Federation PT VP - "Data, mission and collectivist driven"
Eyal Goldmann, Physics Professor - "I’ve been a full-time faculty member at ECC since 2005. For most of that time, I simply assumed that a salary many thousands per year less than comparable colleges, made worse by incomplete health care coverage and undercompensated lab loads, was simply the price of working here. I saw one Federation negotiating team after another drop the ball on pushing for a competitive contract. What Troy and his cohort of Federation officers have been able to achieve in the last two contract cycles, bringing us to competitive salaries, substantial increases in health care coverage, lab parity, and many other improvements to the contract, has been remarkable, and totally beyond anything I thought would happen during my employment here.
I have interacted with Troy quite a bit regarding the contract since he became Federation VP in 2020. This includes especially my involvement with lab parity leading up to the 2021 contract, but also many times since then when I have emailed Troy with questions about arcane or difficult aspects of the contract. Over and over, I have seen that Troy is deeply principled, understands the contract backwards and forwards, and is absolutely committed to making every aspect of our working conditions generally, and the contract in particular, as fair as possible for the entire faculty.
I heartily endorse Troy for reelection as Federation VP, and look forward to the excellent work I am sure he will continue to do in this capacity."
Joe Hardesty, Art Instructor - "I've watched Troy in action at the negotiating table and believe our Union would not have made the gains it has over the last decade without his tireless work."
Hong Herrera Thomas, Professor of History
Linda Ho, Professor of Mathematics - "I have taught full-time at El Camino College for 27 years. Troy Moore is a big reason that our union has negotiated a contract with better compensation, health benefits, load banking and working conditions. In addition, I was involved in a complaint two years ago that required union representation, and Troy did a superb job representing me, obtaining the result I sought. Troy has gone to bat for us at the bargaining table, for me personally, and I am certain that if the occasion arises, he will go to bat for you. Troy has my complete and unequivocal endorsement."
Kelsey Iino (iino), Counselor, Federation Past President - "Troy has been a deeply dedicated and instrumental leader in strengthening our union, helping to advance our working conditions, salaries, and benefits to where they are today. His care and compassion are evident, and his exceptional ability to thoughtfully navigate complex, nuanced issues with integrity and clarity has been invaluable in moving our collective forward. He leads with both heart and intellect, consistently centering the well-being of others while balancing the many intricate demands of this work.
I am grateful for his unwavering commitment, his tireless advocacy, and the sacrifices he continues to make to stand up for all of us. It is inspiring that he remains willing to take on this challenging, often thankless work, and we are all better because of his leadership, vision, and dedication."
Belinda Lum, Chief Negotiator for Los Rios College Federation of Teachers - "As Chief Negotiator for the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers, I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with Troy and AFT 1388 on critical issues like PTHC and the Revenue Sharing Model. Their leadership has shown a real commitment to collective action, recognizing that our strength comes from standing together across locals. Through Troy’s leadership and collaboration with the AFT 1388 Eboard, we’ve built meaningful partnerships, organized across districts, and pushed forward the shared fight for stronger contracts, fairer compensation, and better working conditions for our members."
Zach Marks, Mathematics Instructor - "Troy is a highly knowledgeable and talented negotiator. He was instrumental in helping us achieve significant gains in competitive benefits and salary within our contract. I’m incredibly grateful to have him on our side and offer him my full support. Thank you, Troy, for the outstanding work you do!"
Alice Martinez - "Troy is well versed in the negotiation process, and has a deep understanding of our contract. We have long had very strange things in our contract that are to our detriment which Troy has been helping us systematically remove, helping strengthening our contract. Furthermore, I also had the opportunity to have him represent me in a dispute and his insights and level headedness helped me get it resolved quickly."
Matthew Mata, Professor of Mathematics - "Troy has done an excellent job as VP of the Federation. He is extremely knowledgeable about the contract and genuinely cares about the faculty here. As a union representative for mathematics, I've received good advice from him regarding how to interpret the language of the contract and recommended other faculty to him when they had issues themselves. He has fought hard to ensure that we continue to get improvements to our pay, benefits, and working conditions. I'm happy to endorse Troy for all the good he has done and continues to do in this position."
Mora Mattern, English Instructor - "Troy Moore is pro-faculty on every level. His professionalism and expertise in negotiating fair contracts have realized significant gains not seen in any recent history of our Federation. And it's not just about money. If I were PT faculty, as I was once upon a time, I would be thrilled to have the contract and working conditions that stand today. And, we continue to make gains. This election is not about electing new people for the sake of having new people. It's about electing candidates with proven experience and expertise. Without hesitation, I endorse Troy Moore for VP."
Darcie McClelland, Professor of Biology - "As someone who has been at the table for a full negotiations cycle, I cannot think of any colleague I’d rather have representing me in bargaining than Troy."
Kate McLaughlin, Journalism - "Troy Moore has my vote. He is a capable, reasonable and respectful person who is not afraid to fight hard for faculty. He knows the contract, can do all the math, is generous with his time and patient with people, even when we might be angry and ranting. His door is always open for discussion on union matters, and if he doesn't have the answer he gets it. Most important he and the team he works with have achieved big gains for us all, better deals than we've seen in at least the last 30 years. It's a no brainer for me. Full steam ahead."
Sanda Oswald, Anatomy & Physiology Professor - "Troy has the experience and the knowledge to help lead the union in the direction that will benefit everyone. I fully endorse Troy Moore for Federation VP."
Jessica A. Padilla, Professor of Biology - "A strategic thinker with an ethical approach who has contributed to impactful positive changes. What else can I ask for in my Union’s leadership?"
Kim Runkle, PT English Instructor - "Troy is a strong advocate, a skillful negotiator with a firm grasp on the finer details of our faculty contract and other area college contracts. He’s been such an integral part of helping us to fight back—and win—against a district that has (in the 23 years that I’ve been teaching here) always used an attorney to lead the district’s negotiating team.
From what I witnessed in open bargaining sessions, Troy’s tenacity and attention to detail have greatly contributed to our negotiation team’s ability to truly take on the district’s attorney-led team. I also appreciate that Troy has promptly and thoroughly answered any questions I have had over the years and that he has been open to hearing my impressions, whether we agreed or disagreed on a particular course of action. "
Solomon Russell, Computer Science Instructor
Laura Saldarriaga, Chemistry Professor - "Troy is someone who will continue to fight to improve our working conditions."
Ana Tontcheva, Chemistry Instructor - "I'm happy to lend my full support to Troy Moore as he runs for re-election as Vice President of the ECC Federation. As a fellow chemistry faculty member, I've seen up close just how much Troy has given to this role — and more importantly, how much he's gotten done for all the faculty on campus.
During his time as VP, Troy delivered real, meaningful wins. He fought for and secured huge salary increases, pushed through better working conditions, and brought our healthcare premiums down significantly. These are changes that affect our lives every day, and they happened because Troy worked really hard and refused to settle.
What I appreciate most about Troy is that he never lost sight of who he was working for. He listened to his colleagues, took our concerns seriously, and went to bat for us when it counted. That kind of representation is rare, and we're lucky to have it."
Ryan Turner, Chemistry Instructor - "Although all union work is team work, Troy has probably hands down done the most work over the past 6 years to win us our current contract. I endorse him to continue his tireless (and sometimes thankless) work. I believe he has the best intentions for all faculty and is motivated and competent to get the job done."
Karla Villatoro - "I 100% endorse Troy. It wasn’t after he was elected that we finally started to see significant progress in our contracts!! I don’t know him personally so this is not a popularity vote! He just delivers results, does thorough research and presents compelling findings!"
Jwan Wageman, Geology\Oceanography Instructor - "I fully endorse Troy Moore for VP. He is dedicated, kind, compassionate, professional, and fully committed to supporting others. I believe he will do an excellent job as VP."
Joe Weichman, Robotics Instructor - "Consistently represents union interests."
Paul Yun, Mathematics Instructor - "Troy Moore has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to advocating for faculty interests with integrity, diligence, and clarity. He communicates effectively with colleagues and will represent their concerns thoughtfully and persistently."
