Prof. Byrd's Article
The article Using AI to Generate and Refine Case Studies for Economics Education by William Byrd explores how artificial intelligence can be used to co-create case studies that save instructors time, improve student engagement, and provide flexible, tailored learning experiences. It highlights the benefits of AI tools, such as rapid content generation, adaptability, and the ability to foster critical thinking, while also offering practical guidance on effective prompting techniques. The paper emphasizes the importance of ethical considerations, transparency with students, and careful editing to ensure accuracy and avoid bias, concluding that AI should be used as a supplement rather than a replacement for instructor expertise, enriching economics education when combined thoughtfully with human judgment.
