Troop 97G was launched on March 1st, 2020. Since then , the goal has been to teach scouts on skills such as leadership, cooperation, and outdoor ethics. It has helped activate problem solving skills, independence, and allowing personal growth by following the Scout Oath and Law.
The founding Scoutmaster was Doris Sanchez, who led the Troop until Aug 16, 2021. Following her resignation, Patty Zollinger took up the position and has been leading Troop 97G ever since.
The founders of Troop 97G - Lilli O, Emma L, Layla S, Tia T and Kierra F had their first official Troop meeting, through Zoom, on March 25th, 2020. The pandemic didn't stop these scouts from holding Troop events, and that included a Memorial Flag Placing day, hikes at the Kennedy Dell park and the Island Pond 5 mile loop, a multitude of Troop meetings and then finally their first camping trip at Camp Bullowa, Stony point. By October, Leah H had joined the Troop, and was the sixth founding scout. After a successful nine months, Troop 97G was off to an optimistic future.
