Register Youth in Arrowmoon Troop 743 (boys) or Troop 1743 (girls)
National membership dues are $85/year* and are paid directly to Scouting America during registration. A monthly Scout Life magazine subscription may be added for $15*. National dues are transferable/shared between troops/crews/ships during the year.
* fees are decided annually by Scouting America and may changeAnnual Troop dues are $125 per family and go towards purchasing and maintaining troop equipment such as tents, cooking equipment, trailer, etc.
Monthly camping trips are generally around $40 to cover the cost of food, fuel and activities.
Summer Camp ranges from around $300-$500 and depends on the location of the camp, merit badges selected (some have additional fees), and travel costs dependent on the distance (fuel, meals, etc).
Scouts will also need a uniform and personal camping gear. Much of the camping gear can be slowly accumulated so don't feel the need to buy everything at once. See below.
Fundraising opportunities are available to scouts to help them Pay Their Way. Our main fundraisers happen during the fall. Financial assistance may also be available through Sam Houston Area Council.

Scoutbook - This site is your resource for rank requirements as well as a log of scout progress. Scouts should have their own my.scouting.org account and enter in completed rank requirements for leader approval. There is also a Scouting app available for Apple and Android devices.
Email - Reminders for upcoming events and other important information will periodically be sent to the email account associated with my.scouting accounts.
Scouts wear their Class A uniform to meetings and while traveling. Unit number patches (7) can be purchased from the troop or individual numbers can be purchased from Scouting America.
Burdett & Son on Texas Avenue usually has uniform pieces in stock and will also order additional or out-of-stock items. You can also order from scoutshop.org.
Each scout must have a personal Scout Handbook. A Handbook Cover is recommended to help protect and prolong the life of the book. The Handbook should be brought to each meeting.
The Class A uniform (Field Uniform) includes:
Activity Uniform (Class B) - shirt ordered through the troop, wear under Class A shirt and for campouts
Sam Houston Area Council shoulder patch (6)
Leadership Position (8) and Rank (5) patches will be added as the scout progresses in scouting.
