Merit badges are a required element for advancing through the Star, Life, and Eagle ranks. The specific Eagle-required merit badges provide the fundamental skills that all scouts should possess. The non-Eagle merit badges allow each scout to tailor his scouting program to his personal path of interest. Troop 335 merit badge counselors are available to guide scouts in their achievements. Other activities (such as summer camp, troop camp outs, and patrol activities) provide additional opportunities to earn badges.
To achieve Star Scout, the scout must earn six merit badges, four of which must be from those required for Eagle.
To achieve Life Scout, the scout must have earned at least eleven merit badges, seven of which must be from those required for Eagle (a total of at least seven Eagle-required).
To achieve Eagle Scout, the scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, thirteen of which must be Eagle-required.
