Merit Badges

As of July 2025, Scouting America offers 139 Merit Badges that can be earned by a member of ScoutsBSA. The list is shown here, and the list of 14 merit badges (11 single merit badges, plus 3 from three different groups, as listed) required for Eagle rank are listed here.

Troop 220 occasionally offers merit badges as part of the Troop meetings. We encourage Scouts to enroll in merit badge classes. They are offered periodically online and always at summer camp. Scouts are encouraged to attend summer camp as it is a major part of the annual experience. Merit Badge Booklets can be viewed or downloaded from Scouting America.

 Scouts are also encouraged to seek out merit badge counselors for badges they need or want. Merit badge counselors must be registered annually as such with the Council. Youth should never go to a merit badge counselor without two-deep leadership or a parent/guardian present. A list of current merit badge counselors are available from the Committee Chair, and the Scout must have a conversation with the Scoutmaster prior to beginning the process.
