I am an Associate Professor of International Economics at the University of Groningen and guest researcher at Statistics Netherlands. I am a research fellow at FEB Research Institute and the RAS Sanctions Group, and board member of the Multidisciplinary International Network on Sanctions (MINOS).
I serve as co-editor at the Journal of International Trade & Economic Development and am Managing Director of the European Trade Study Group. Previously, I was Executive Secretary of the International Economics & Finance Society in the United States.
My main research interests include international trade, trade policy, political economy, and economic geography. I currently primarily work on topics related to the causes and consequences of economic (dis)integration through free trade agreements, economic sanctions, and lobbying on trade policy.
