Rev. Sue Hardman-Zimmerman was ordained deacon in 1989, elder in 1993, and has served churches throughout the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre District. She was the chaplain at the United Methodist Homes Wesley Village campus in Pittston, PA for 4 years. Pastor Sue and her husband John come to Walnut Bottom from Vermont, having served 6 churches between them in the Rutland area. John is also an ordained pastor and worked as a hospice chaplain for over a dozen years.
Pastor Sue grew up mostly on Long Island (in Selden, N.Y.) and John mostly in Watchung, N.J. They met at an Annual Conference session in Scranton. They have been married almost 35 years and have 2 married adult children, Christina (and Dave) in Front Royal, VA and Matthew (and Marisa) in Akron, OH. The latest addition to their family is their sheepadoodle, Matilda.
Pastor Sue enjoys music – singing and playing the clarinet, etc, and crafts, especially fiber arts – crocheting, weaving, and spinning. Recently retired, John is enjoying playing the banjo, ukulele and guitar. He is an avid reader of mostly theology, particularly spirituality and healing prayer, and enjoys being out in God’s creation fishing and hiking.
Pastor Sue enjoys being in ministry with people of all ages, strengthening existing ministries, and exploring together ways to bring more of Jesus’ love, joy, and beauty to the world.
