We are inspired by God’s call for His Church to love the same things He does. We feel that by supporting organizations both near and far through our Mission Giving, we too can make a difference in our communities. Below you will find the organizations we have committed pledges through this year. Collections for these missions happen the 2nd and 5th Sunday of each month.
Birthed by the compassion and love of long term Nigerian missionaries Paul and Caroline Gross and family, this work was handed off to Nigerian nationals Daniel and Esther Edeh on August 1, 1992. Located in the small village of Otutulu in Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State on land donated by the Edeh family, it has now grown to be one of the largest orphanages in Nigeria with two large complexes providing a home for more than 400 residents, mostly children and babies. Originally started to care for those with physical or mental disabilities, the albino's, those with epilepsy and others with different challenges, the scope of care has expanded so that now most of the new residents entering its care are half or full orphans, predominantly infants. The Ministry of Mercy will be TCW’s January Mission Give Opportunity.
Love Inc. is another local mission that we continue a relationship with as we enter 2026. Love Inc. will be our February Mission Give for 2026. Based in Milton, Love Inc. strives to be an multi-denominational mission that meets the many needs that our surrounding communities have. The leadership of their daily operations is provided by an Executive Director, office staff, and their volunteers. Many church members have a desire to share Christ's love by serving people with needs, but they don't know how to reach those who need their help. Golden Rule LOVE INC makes connections between church volunteers and those in our communities who have unmet needs. For more information about this local mission, visit their website!
The Susquehanna Valley Diaper Bank partners with various churches within our area to help offset costs of local families' needs for diapers. For the 2nd Sunday of March, we at TCW will participate in this Mission Give Opportunity.
For the 5th Sunday Mission Give in March, we will once again continue our support for the ongoing mission of Aerial Recovery. By Grace Transitional Home is a safe place where women get a fresh start and a new outlook on life. It is a place where formerly homeless women can finish education, get jobs, and learn skills needed for transition into a more independent life. Through partnerships with more than 200 organizations, we supply essential resources to those providing humanitarian aid and critical care. From flood recovery efforts to school supply distributions, or medical equipment, we stand ready to respond – wherever and whenever we’re needed.” Now being an Independent Organization, a familiar mission will return to the TCW support rotation here on the July Mission Give.
Every August, TCW turns its attention to Gideons International. With speakers coming on the second Sunday of the month, we at TCW are always looking forward to hearing the great stories of this mission. The Gideons International is the result of a meeting between two men who wished to band commercial travelers together for evangelism. What began in 1908 as an Association of Christian businessmen placing Bibles in hotel rooms has evolved into an expanding mission to provide Scriptures to all people in nearly every facet of life. Today, they have taken more than 2 billion Scriptures in more than 95 languages to 200 countries, territories, and possessions across the globe.

Adopt-A-Family Tradition returns to TCW in 2025. TCW partners with Haven Ministries to Adopt-A-Family for the Christmas Season. A couple at-need families are identified, and the Youth Group will go out and shop for the needs of that household. The Mission Give opportunity for November is given to support this tradition that we hold close to our hearts as the Christmas season approaches.
For the 5th Sunday in November, TCW will hold a Mission Give for Transitions out of Lewisburg. In 1975, a group of women in the Sunbury/Selinsgrove/Lewisburg area who were mostly single, separated or divorced got together to discuss shared problems and concerns. These women recognized the importance of this support network for women in transition and for the increasing number of women clients who were physically battered. It became clear that battered women needed not only emotional support and legal advice, but physical safety as well. This core group persisted in their vision of a comprehensive support network for victims of domestic violence, and Transitions was created.
Elijah's Bowl was started on January 26, 1991 by the First Presbyterian Church of Sunbury. On that first day, we prepared food to feed 100 people and served 11 meals. In the beginning we had the kitchen opened on the last Saturday of each month. By the end of the first year, we served over 400 meals. We are now open every Saturday serving up to 100 plus meals each week. To God's Glory we have served over 100,000 meals in 30 years. The First Presbyterian Church does not do this alone. Many other churches, JROTC, scouting groups, Sunday school classes and youth groups support this ministry week in and week out. For December Mission Give, TCW will aim to aid this ministry.
