I hope I can answer some or all of your questions about our film club
This is a club for those that like to watch films and movies (there is a difference that I'll answer in another question), and then discuss them over food and/or drinks afterwards (which I find much more enjoyable than just hanging out in the parking lot and chatting about it.)
That's easy! Step 1: Click on the email link at the bottom of this page.
Step 2: Send your name (First, Last) What kind of membership you require (Regular, Senior, Student) and how many (each annual membership gets you plus 1 guest into every screening.)
Step 3: Send in your Membership dues to the link we send. (We accept cash and PayPal)
You can also use the ticket link at the bottom of the page, and click on the $30 Annual Membership. I will send your welcome email to the address provided in the order form.
And you'll get added to the newsletter email list, and you'll get your card at your first screening or club meeting.
We are totally non-profit. Any money we make goes right back into the club. We use the funds for acquiring films for our screening library, operation costs (like the annual umbrella license $500/year, printing cost for membership cards and posters, prizes for club raffles *DVDs, Blu-rays, cool movie related merch*, venue rentals, etc).
And when we become a Bigger Non-Profit, we'll do charity events and fundraisers, and maybe an organization that can pay it's employees (of which we have none yet. This is a future goal.)
OK, so to answer 2 questions in this question:
What's the difference between FILMS and MOVIES?
Well that depends on who you ask. In my opinion, MOVIES are made for mainstream audiences. These are fun and enjoyable stories (most of them anyways... many are low budget crap just made to make a buck and should be straight to streaming or dvd) that aren't really serious, thought provoking productions. Examples: The Fast and Furious franchise, most Disney animated classics, Star Wars, Westerns, Soap Operas, Slashers, almost anything starring Adam Sandler, you get the idea.
FILMS on the other hand are well crafted masterpieces of cinema (most of them... there are some very low budget Indy films that started genres and sub-genres that were very influential... Like Slacker (1990) by Richard Linklater. This film inspired Kevin Smith to become a Director.) Films are thought provoking and often lead to deep discussions about anything and everything. Speculations about what the ending meant or what the director was referencing or how close (or far away from) the book or events it was based on, etc. My favorite is how much Blade Runner was changed with the Director's Cut adding the Unicorn dream sequence that implies Deckard is a Replicant. (It was over 40 years ago, no spoilers here.)
Like Francis Bacon said: 'Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.'
I'm suggesting Movies are to be tasted or swallowed, Films are to be chewed and digested... preferably over drinks.
Now as to what kinds of Films and Movies will we be screening?
Most of them will be Films, and some will be movies. We mostly focus on titles from the 1960s to the early 2000s (2007 being the cut off date usually, because that's when Hollywood really started cranking out the reboots and remakes..but there are always exceptions to the rules).
The movies will be those that we may have missed or never seen on the BIG SCREEN. The films will sometimes be obscure titles you may or may not have ever heard of. Our founder's circle (the 50 members who started the club) will often vote on what we show. A few times a year, the club founder will pick a film that he wants everyone to see (and these will be special events with special stuff included.) And there will be member polls for what we show. But we'll be showing a wide variety, you can count on that.
We also have an Online Discord Screening Channel that almost anything might be screened. Like films you love that you never knew was a remake of something decades ago.
Discord is and online discussion forum that includes text based chat forums, audio chat channels, and video sharing channels. It's private and has no advertisements (unless someone posts something, and it's moderated by members with permission to do so).
It's a much better and safer alternative to Facebook.
You can use it on your PC, Laptop, Tablet, or Cellphone.
If you want to join, click the link at the bottom of the page.
And PLEASE... when you join the channel, read the rules, and post your FIRST NAME and LAST INITIAL. If you're a new member, add NEW MEMBER. And if you have a membership #123, share it like John S #123, I will add you and give you the appropriate role/permissions in the group.

For our first year, we met once a month at The Rialto Theater.
Now we will have an Annual Fundraiser Screening to raise money for our Screening License and operational costs in September each year.
(But if we get a patron that will give us $500/month, we can go back to monthly screenings there.)
Crafty Beer-Wine-Spirits, a little bar in the Five Points neighborhood. One Monday month we'll be showing documentaries, comedies, bar-centric films, and light fare to enjoy drinks with. We'll be in the cozy back room. Seating is limited to about 20.
Hunky Dory - Durham, a very cool record shop that specializes in used records and great local beers (on draft). They have 3 locations: Raleigh, Cary, and Durham. We chose Durham because they have a basement (known as "The Dank Dungeon").
It's not a nasty basement, it's the kind of place to chill, listen to music, and drink good beer. It reminds me of my best friends house, where I saw Heavy Metal (1981) for the first time, and so many other cult films on HBO, Cinemax, and USA Night Flights. So Hunky Dory will be our new location for Cult Cinema Night! Pull up a couch or bring a beanbag or chair, and maybe grab a drink from upstairs, and settle in for some great music, and some WEIRDNESS...

Our newest venue is Cannonball Music Hall, a new music venue in The Raleigh Ironworks complex. They host bands, burlesque, standup comedy, and film screenings. Our first event will be in late November, on Sunday the 23rd (film TBA). So watch for the announcement!
