The FAUW is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1987 to promote and strengthen Filipino identity in Hawai`i through initiatives in culture, the arts, and education. Since its inception, the organization provided leadership in promoting greater awareness of and appreciation for the Filipino culture and traditional values, and cross-cultural understanding in Hawaii.

FAUW creates and supports events such as the annual Christmas Pasko! celebration, children's festivals, literacy and literature projects, and sponsorship of art exhibits by Filipino-American artists, theater, and films.
