Venue & Hotels

The lectures will be held at Ångström Laboratoriet (Room: 10132 Häggsalen) in the south of Uppsala. It is a moderate 40-minute walk from the city centre (where most hotels are). The distance can be covered by bus number 4 (from the Central station (location B4) to Polackbacken). We recommend installing the UL app which allows you to buy tickets (need to be scanned by a driver, so enter at the front) and get a timetable. You can also pay by card, cash is NOT accepted.

The nearest airport is Stockholm Arlanda about 30 km away from Uppsala. You can also reach Uppsala by train via Denmark, however, it's a long journey and the tickets are often sold out well in advance.

From Arlanda airport to Uppsala central station

There are multiple options to get from Arlanda airport to Uppsala. 

Train: The easiest way to get to Uppsala from the airport is by taking a train from Arlanda Central to Uppsala Central. The journey takes about 20 minutes and costs 20-25 Euro (around 200 SEK) (from about 5 am to 1 am). If your flight arrives after 1 am,  you should take a bus or a taxi. When leaving the baggage area, follow the signs for the train (or SkyCity), you will find the station entrance between Terminals 4 and 5 in SkyCity.

It is possible to buy tickets in the ticket machines by the entrance or from the staff by the doors. You can also install the SJ App to buy tickets and check the timetable.

Bus: A bus number 801 (goes every 30 min during the day and every hour at night) can take you from the bus stop by Terminal 4 (location 1) to Uppsala Central in 45 minutes (for about 13 Euro or 125 SEK). A fare can be paid by the driver (card only) or via SJ and UL apps.

Taxi: A taxi from Arlanda to Uppsala will cost around 100 Euro. Follow the Taxi signs as you exit the baggage are.

Here are some suggested connections from the selected towns:

From Stockholm central station to Uppsala central station

Train: There are faster options (about 40 min) and slower commuter trains (about 1 hour) connecting Stockholm and Uppsala regularly (every 5-25 min). You can buy tickets in ticket machines at the station or use the SJ app.

From Örebro central station to Uppsala central station

Train: A train can be taken from Örebro Central (with a change in Stockholm). The whole journey takes between 2.5 and 3.5 hours.

From Gothenburg central station to Örebro central station

Train: A train journey from Gothenburg to Uppsala takes between 4.5 and 6 hrs with a change at Stockholm Central. 

From Lund central station to Örebro central station
