"Akaimi (Red Fruits)" refers to a nursery school that was built in a corner of Kyoto University. This is the name the mothers gave to the nursery when they started it 20 years ago, hoping that their children's clear, dull eyes would never be clouded, and that their children would play vigorously with red cheeks. The nursery's "gumi" and "zakuro" trees, which were planted in the nursery garden in honor of their name, have grown large, and bear red fruits every year. Wild birds come out of nowhere and peck at the ripe fruits and carry the fruits away with them. Each "red fruit" carried by the birds is dropped to the ground and sprouts, and in time, it is sure to bear many beautiful fruits. We are all hoping for this.
