Each tree represents a Pell number from 5 to 408. Each tree is surrounded by the two kinds of trees that it is made of. The smaller number is on the left, while the larger number is on the right.
For example:
The largest tree in the middle is 408 tree. The 70 node tree is to its left and the 169 tree is to its right.
The 169 tree has the 29 tree to its left and the 70 tree to its right.
The 70 tree has the 12 tree to its left and the 29 to its right.
The 29 tree has 5 to its left and 12 to its right.
The 12 tree has 5 to its right, since it would be the larger number if it a 2 node tree was also represented.
The intention behind this piece was to embrace a more natural-looking forest, rather than a strictly organized fractal. This is why I started adding random numbers to the MATLAB program creating more variety in branches and overlapping.
The trees are planted by water. The reflection in the water can also been as roots. Either way, the trees need water to grow leaves and fruit. These trees are a representation of continued stability as even in a drought they will continue to grow, the smaller trees strive to become like the larger trees. Like the trees, we should aim to plant ourselves near something that gives us joy, hope, and guidance so we may also survive any drought that comes.
