My name is Laura Castro and I'm a university student studying computer science.
My artwork is usually portraits of people using paint or pencils. However, I've now discovered the fascinating world of representing a mathematical concept using art and code. It has drawn me closer to patterns, nature, and the organized yet random layout of trees.
I first became interested in the world of mathematics and art when my sixth grade teacher started sharing ViHart videos in class. I used to solely focus on the Fibonacci sequence and the dragon curve but after researching many other's work I've now been exposed to many more topics and methods of representing math through art.
Now I'm creating my own math related art, sometimes with MATLAB, sometimes with my iPad, and sometimes in the corner of notebooks during class.
