What is compost? In short, it is plant food. But so is commercial fertilizer right? Sort of. Compost is a process that does several things to the soil before it releases the nutrients to feed the plants. A two inch layer applied to the surface of the soil, helps moderate the soil temperature and discourage weed growth. That is just the beginning though. Now the magic of the underground world begins.
