Propagation
Have you ever wanted to propagate plants? I have! Reading about rooting hormones can be a bit confusing about which type to get. At my local garden centre, I could only buy one type leaving the only option to buy the kind recommended was online and shipping made that cost prohibitive. If I find a garden center on Vancouver Island that carries the different types of rooting hormones, I will post an update here.
Recently, I read about using honey and cinnamon as a rooting hormone. Raw honey, not the pasteurized kind. I haven't tried it yet but I am excited to try it out. Here is a link to one of the research studies to support the practice. I am going to do my own experiment this fall with geraniums, one using the locally available rooting hormone powder, one using honey or a honey cinnamon combo and a control group with nothing. I have a bit more research to do first to determine if the honey should be diluted and how to use the cinnamon with honey. Whatever the combo I try, I will document my tests and post the results here. (A link will be added)
If you have tried it or know of another study, I would love to hear from you and what your experience has been.
