How to Ini Swap Character Files for Attorney Online:
So you’ve created a custom character or found a character you would like to use on another server. But hold the phone?
How do you actually apply it to the character in order to use it?
(For information on Ini file editing) (For in depth Ini editing)
Step 0: Ensure that any character you wish to ini-swap has a download available.
Please upload the character files for the character you are going to swap for so you’re ready to give the files out to anyone who needs them!
Otherwise it will be only you who sees the character!
Remember to post links in the OOC!
Certain servers also host custom character slots called “Persona#”s.
These character slots are made to be ini swapped with.
It’s important to understand the rules of the server you visit before ini editing characters. Some servers may not allow certain types of characters, certain character sizes, limit on number of times ini editing, limits on number of custom characters, or they may not allow it at all! Be sure to ask!
Step 1: Find the character you wish to use. Open their folder and find the file named: char
This is the character ini file. You want to copy this file.
Step 2: Find the character you want to swap over. This character can be any character at all. Selecting that character at the character select screen will give you the character you are editing for and not the character you selected.
Step 3: replace the char ini folder for the character you are replacing.
If you’re replacing a Person# character it’s as easy as to just delete the char file in the Persona# folder and just drop in the character you want.
If you are ini editing over an already existing character be sure to save the char file for that character under a slightly abridged name so you dont lose it!
The file named "char.ini" will always be the ini set for that character.
Step 4: Select your character. In our example we set Trucy as Persona1 as well as ini editing over Butz. All that is left is to select and play!
The second highlighted characters are Persona# slots. The number of the person you select should match the one you placed the ini into
Step 5: Final note. After selecting and ini editing a character, the name will remain as the character you selected. While at times client side you may see the name of the character you are ini editing no one else will. They will always see the character you are ini edited over.
Your name to them will read: Persona1 or Butz. But they will see your ini edited character.
(Provided you share any custom files)
In our case everyone will see Trucy but the name may still read as Butz or Persona1(#)
