The Transportation Research Board Intergovernmental Relations in Aviation Committee (AV010) is focused on the intergovernmental aspects of research on airports, air space, air service and other related aviation matters. These include, but are not limited to: 1) multimodalism (including commercial space transportation); 2) intergovernmental coordination, to include international and quasi-governmental organizations; 3) the interrelation of metropolitan, state, regional and national airport/spaceport system planning; 4) procurement and programming of local, state, federal, and other sources of financing for aviation planning and development; and 5) the development of an efficient, economical, sustainable, and safe aviation and commercial airspace system.
We are actively looking for papers that address aspects of the relationships between municipal, regional, state and federal governments as they relate to airports and airport sponsors:
We welcome papers from a variety of disciplines, including (but not exclusively) aviation, public policy, public affairs, public administration, public finance, city and regional planning, engineering, land use law, geography and political science. Papers can have a U.S. or an international focus: international and interstate comparisons are of interest. The following list of issues is not exhaustive:
The deadline for paper submission for the 2019 TRB Annual Meeting is 8/1/2018. Papers will be reviewed for lectern presentations and posters. The TRB review process includes the opportunity of publishing the paper, if accepted, in TRB’s academic journal, the Transportation Research Record.

The Young Members Council - Aviation (YMC-A) of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) is sponsoring a special student poster session at the 96th TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C, between January 8th and January 12th, 2017.
The purpose of this poster session is to highlight research or research-in-progress by graduate students in aviation, engineering, or related fields. This poster session is aligned with the TRB initiative to increase participation of young members in the annual conference.
YMC-A is requesting submittal of 300 word abstracts for posters showcasing student research or research-in-progress in the following fields:
While we welcome submissions from students pursuing an aviation or engineering degree, we also would like to invite non-aviation students from design, planning, public affairs, geography, or related fields to participate. Research can be focused on the U.S. or international aviation issues: international, interstate, and regional comparisons are of interest.
Please submit abstracts of no more than 300 words to ymcatrb@gmail.com. Submittals should also include the poster title, author’s name, contact information, and school affiliation. The deadline for submission is August 1st, 2016. Accepted submitters will be notified via email by September 1st, 2016. Note that students submitting a poster must register for the conference at www.trb.org.
