About the Task Force:

The Research Task Force represents the core focus of TRB within the AED50. Specific roles of the Research Task Force include:

• Support the Committee Research Coordinator in developing research needs and statements that are focused on applications of AI and Machine Learning methods in collaboration with other committees whose research scope overlaps with AED50 focus areas.

• Form focus groups among members and friends of AED50 with common research interests to promote research collaboration.

• Organize data analysis competitions at the TRB annual meeting with emphasis on AI and machine learning tools, individually and collaboratively with other committees.

• Establish research collaborations with other TRB committees and transportation industry to identify interdisciplinary research needs and facilitate the applicability of advanced data driven modeling and computing.

• Review the criteria for nomination and selection of the best paper award 

• Develop calls, for AED50 in collaboration with other TRB committees papers to leverage research in areas of special interest.

• Promote data sharing among members and friends for research collaboration.

• Track citations of the papers published by AED50 and the contributions of AED50 members to authorship of published and presented TRB papers.

• Evaluate and improve the paper review process.

Updates

The task force submitted two research needs statements: one in collaboration with another committee to the TRB statements site, and another directly to NCHRP in collaboration with Louisiana Department of Transportation.
