This is an enemy character in our Bigmode game jam entry, Clyde: Breach of Contrast. This character went through a lot of idea iterations and could have ended up a lot of ways, as indicated by the varied concept art. We ended up settling on the more grounded, dude in a mask design and I think that was the right choice. It allowed me to keep the overall design simple and also allow me to push the animations a bit further. I had a lot of fun animating this character and all the various ways the player can interact with them. This character's simple design also meant I could carry a lot of the ideas and methods from the previous character, "Clyde", into this character. It also meant that I could make variants of the character to prevent it from being boring seeing the same guard copied over and over. Overall this character gave me a good opportunity to practice animation and stylization.Â
