The Kaleiçi area is located in the center-eastern portion of Antalya along the Mediterranean coast fronted by the yacht harbor that dates to the Roman era. The name Kaleiçi means "Inside the Kale" or "Inner Kale" (Kale itself means castle or fortress). According to the TÜİK Institute of Statistics, as of October 2022, 120,000 foreigners live in the city.
Kaleiçi, with its narrow cobbled streets of historic Ottoman era houses, is the old center of Antalya. With its hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants, and shopping, it has been restored to retain much of its historical character.
It is surrounded by two walls, one of which is along the seafront, built in a continuous process from Hellenistic to Ottoman times. The historical harbor is located in this part of the city; narrow streets extend from the harbor and branch off into the old city, surrounded by wooden historical houses.
Republic square, the main square of the city and a spot very popular for tourists and locals, which is surrounded by shopping and business centers and public buildings.
Hadrian's Gate (Turkish: Üçkapılar, meaning "The Three Gates") is a triumphal arch, which was built in the name of the Roman emperor Hadrian, who visited Antalya in the year AD 130. It is the only remaining entrance gate in the walls that surround the city and harbor.
