Trauma Informed Educators
"Students will not have the internal energy for learning and growth if their safety and belonging needs are not met."
- Brooke Alexander
Welcome!
This website aims to provide educators with important concepts and information that will help deepen the knowledge of trauma-informed practices and help encourage the use of these practices in their classroom and school community. Whether you are new to the teaching profession or want to know more about the topic, this website has resources that you can read, as well as, use directly in the classroom.
It is likely that educators have students experiencing, have experienced, and/or at a higher risk of experiencing trauma in their classrooms. With that being said, trauma can affect students social emotional skills and in turn academic skills. It is our duties as educators to learn and grow on our knowledge of trauma-informed practices to better support our students and meet their needs accordingly with grace and care.
I would like to extend my appreciation and thankfulness to my committee members Dr. Virmani, Dr. Suarez, and Dr. Ducy for believing in my abilities and providing the gracious support to make this website come to fruition. Thank you, I couldn't have done this without you all! Also, I would like to express my gratitude to all the teachers, educators, staff, and administrators that took the time to check out my website and provide feedback. Thank you!
