Hello, my name is Ibrahim M. Traore
The career I have decided to pursue is mechatronics engineering. I would say that my dad is the one who prompted me to enter this, albeit it was more of an indirect approach. He did this by telling me I had broken enough RC cars of his and that the next one I got would be one that I made so fast forward 8 years to the summer of 2025 when I began my first engineering project, an electric 4wd rc car called the DASHSTAR, the likes of which still haven't completed at the time of writing this, however, in the process of making this rc car, I learned several valuable lessons and skills such as PCB design, 3d printing and fusion 360, soldering, basics of electronic circuits and physics, C++ and arduino code, raspberry pi, etc. This process has also taught me the tools of the trade(albeit not how to use
some of them), such as CNC machines, drills, drill presses, etc. These experiences help me with projects that I am doing today, such as a portable game console, another RC car or robot-ish project called the SUPERLIMINAL, and a bipedal robot, all of which, as of now, are still in the building phase.
I have taken very few classes that have helped me with achieving my career goals, some being the cs class at Leonardtown High School and the Johns Hopkins STEM class at MacArthur Middle School, before I moved to Leonardtown, as of now, I have not taken any program of studies to assist me in attaining my dream, and at the time of writing this, I haven't learned anything yet at the tech center that will help me in my future profession, but I am always ready to learn anything that can benefit me in this field.
I haven't participated in any extracurricular activities as of yet, although I have been to various museums that cover topics regarding and related to engineering, such as the Patuxent Aeronautics Museum, in which I learned about teamwork, the importance of following directions, and listening to other people's perspectives.
My plan upon graduation from high school is to go to a college, preferably one out of state, on a scholarship, to study mechatronics engineering, then to work with a reputable company under that study. Alongside this, I will continue my education and hopefully get a PhD. The reason as to why i chose this path for myself is because I believe it will be easier to get and find a job after college because I will have honed my skills, and that is more valuable than, say, me without further studying.
I plan to affect the community and society that I live in by hopefully making engineering processes easier and innovating the space and community of engineering. Another way that I hope to achieve by following the path of engineering and helping with the further development and exploration of technologies used to explore other worlds with the knowledge that I gain from my studies. I also do believe that I will make a difference in the world and hopefully induce a paradigm shift just like the invention of transistors, or with the wheel.
