Building new tracks - Worcester Commuter Rail Lines

Building more trains to help even the flow of riders

Ruggles Station Platform Project - It will include building a new 800-foot long commuter rail platform for Track 2 at the Ruggles station

Create 225 ft platforms for 3-car train sets

Impact

We have many ways our solutions will impact the community:

Positive Impact: More trains/subways will allow people to use public transportation instead of cars and private vehicles

• This can cause less congestion on the roads, causing less traffic and stressful situations.
• Also, this can decrease the rate of car accidents caused by texting and driving.
• Some people don't have money to afford their own personal vehicles and rely on public transportation.

Negative Impact: Will creating more trains/subways cause more pollution?

• If more people make the switch to public transportation, then car usage will soon reduce drastically with more people taking the T.
• The MBTA will have to run more stops more frequently, which could cost a lot of money and they are already approximately 5 billion dollars in debt.
